INTERSPACE ARTISTIC INTERVENTIONS 2012
Permanent Eco - Intelligent Installations – Facade Design – Actions – Lectures – Jamboree

Synoptic is SmArt Association's yearly event regularly held in Pécs. In 2012 artistic installations will be set up on public grounds and facades. Sites of the city with artistic, architectural and political relevance will be the hosts of these works of art. This years's codeword is "RECALL". This primarily trying to represent the artistic attitude towards sustainable progress, environmental education and other environment conscious trends. The concepts of renewable energy, green installations and recycling tendencies are often joined by artists considering their formal and technical solutions or basic concept. „Recall“ means reaching into our memory and rethinking. We rethink art’s bound forms, the placement of the artworks aswell as the role of the artist.

19th October, 2012 (Friday)
9. Mária sreet, Pécs > the KLUB
19:00 > Gábor Kerekes: UTOPIA NOW. Exhibition opening.
19:00 > „Vertical garden” presentation ceremony

Vegetation's vertical setting, in other words „plant wall” (or greenwall, living wall, vertical garden) has a significant impact where it is being created. The connection between man and nature is being changed and reduced in an urban context although this symbiotic relationship is a big part of our human origins. The installation has been created through a community process, taking ideas from architecture and design.

7th November, 2012 (Wednesday)
Top end of Vince street, Pécs > Tettye watermill
19:00 > "Light-cycling" practical utilisation of hydroenergy around the watermill of Tettye

The watermill built upon the Tettye spring's stream has become a popular local attraction. The eco-intelligent public ground intervention called "Light-cycling" (Fényforgás) is meant to give the watermill's presence a purpose, the runoff of the stream is being used as a source of green energy to support the boardwalk's lighting in the surrounding area. A mutual interdependence is being realised, where water manifests into light and the light makes the water visible.

21st November, 2012 (Wednesday)

The corner of Kisfaludy Sándor and Munkácsy Mihány streets, Pécs
> old SZTK building's facade
19:00 > "AER" kinetic creeper-work's presenation ceremony

The AER kinetic facade work is an automative, dynamic surface that actively interacts with its surrounding. The operation of the artwork's system resembles the build of a creeper plant, which is barely visible under windless weather conditions. The steel plates built upon the facade's surface however react to the least wind with active movement. The leaflets build up a statuesque, dynamic whole showing the spectacular natural turbulences around the building.

21th December, 2012 (Friday)
1. Király street, Pécs > Nick yard
19:00 > „Vibratile” solar powered interactive space-specific light-installation's presentation

A light-entity resembling a living organism which reacts to human presence, appears as a  giant-grown cellular, micro-organic being which fits into its space like an inclusion. The work’s cap shaped inner space is covered with several thousand vibratile-like plastic tubes and LED lights. The sculpting reacts to the vicinity of the observers with its built-in sensors and thus becomes interactive with the visitors.

Additional Support: Tamás Bérces; PTE-MAMI and PTE-MK students

19:30 > Audiovisional performance by the students of the PTE-Mami
